Behavioral Consulting
Observing children in their natural environment (in-home, at school, etc.) is one key to analyzing your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Sunshine Through Motion develops support plans that consist of expertly designed steps to assist your child’s strengths and educate grey areas, and introduces reliable and tested methods in weaker areas.
Sunshine Through Motion Support Plans include:
Specific actions and strategies for your child, their parents, their caregivers, and teachers and/or guides the care team
Daily, weekly, or monthly coaching sessions to demonstrate, educate and guide the child’s care team
Multi-part strategic actions and targeted behaviors are to be practiced with the child’s care team after formal sessions
Virtual real-time support available via phone, text, email, and our virtual platform for arising questions or new challenges that arise. We know how important it is to practice safety.
A strength-based approach includes observations of the child in their natural environment. Our proven approach assists in understanding what may be causing a specific behavior or action. While working with the child and care team, Sunshine Through Motion utilizes strength-based (not fear-based) care strategies to reinforce the child’s support plan.

Strength-Based vs. Fear-Based Strategies
Did you know? Humans are born with two powerful emotions; love and fear. Love and self-esteem go hand in hand, and self-esteem is a critical need that has to be filled and empowered before moving onto other human emotions, behaviors, and actions.
Strength-Based Strategies are the most critical consideration in working with children.
A strength-based approach to positive behavior change utilizes strategies deeply rooted in love and compassion. Your child needs confidence, through our proven and time tested strength-based agenda, Sunshine Through Motion addresses problems with creative and educated alternatives to improve the child’s overall experience and preventing regression.
Fear-based strategies are those such as sticker charts, clip down systems, and other reward and punishment alternatives. Here is an example:
“If you do not put your shoes away, you will not get a sticker or prize.”
We discourage these types of “power struggle” activities. These types of fear-based strategies are socially and emotionally damaging to the child.
We must also keep physical and emotional safety in check. We want to create positive relationships and environments rather than hurtful actions such as hitting, yelling, or demanding certain behaviors. These negative strategies and actions cause fear, damaging self-esteem, and may teach the child to adopt more negative behavior. We must analyze and pay strong attention to a child's well-being, so we don’t use hurtful strategies.

Life Coach
for Adults & Families
Addressing a child's behavior is a team effort! Life coaching for families, guardians, and caretakers ensures that everyone understands their role in their child’s process. These one-on-one sessions ensure that each member of the child’s care team is taught how to build self-esteem, set positive goals, and constructively deal with difficult issues. Sunshine Through Motion helps family members guide them with proven guides and strategies, achieving success and happiness in the beginning. As the child learns new skills, behaviors, and actions, the parent and child bond remain in a positive relationship, which builds a more robust human connection between family members and those who are in the child’s care response. A mentally healthy environment provides equal opportunities for both parents and children.

Workshops for Educators & Families
Sunshine Through Motion provides seminars and workshops for educators, administrators, and parents/guardians on a variety of educational subjects (e.g., behavior, curriculum designs, relationships, play, etc.). Sunshine Through Motion workshops are strength-based and are more of a nontraditional approach. We utilize stories to illustrate how to properly address issues involved when dealing with “challenging” children. We also encourage participants to share their stories and discuss strengths and weaknesses through hands-on experience. The seminars and workshops are designed to address complex problems and issues when working with children with undeveloped emotional needs.
